BUCKETS FOR JESUS MINISTRIES
SCHOOLBAGS FOR JESUS
|
Schoolbags for Jesus (previously Shoeboxes) aims to enable orphans and street children in the Philippines to receive education and break the cycle of poverty. The kids do not mind walking to school for miles if they could have some school supplies which their parents cannot afford, let alone feed them. To date, we have distributed 20,000 SFJs in the Philippines over eight years running.
At Buckets for Jesus’ Apostolic missions, we “believe in not just providing the fish but teaching the poor how to fish.” We firmly believe that education is the surest way to empower children but also raise their families from the bondage of poverty. See flyer on the left. For as low as $5 a bag, you can be a part of this project which will provide a school bag (details on the flyer) basic school essentials such as pens, pencils, exercise books, a cap or shirt, will ensure thousands of street children and orphans can attend school each year which we personally deliver 2 weeks before Christmas. 2022 will be SFJ's 9th year running, and we are praying for 4000 schoolbags for this Christmas. We plan to start the 2022 Campaign in June in time for the BalikBayan boxes to arrive by early December. If you want to get your business, school, parish, youth group, organization or even yourselves involved in Schoolbags For Jesus 2022, please contact Buckets For Jesus @ [email protected] |
Containers For Jesus
During an outreach for flood affected victims in Dumaguete in 2012, Buckets For Jesus missionaries felt they didn’t bring enough donations for the thousands of homeless people
surrounding them that day. Mike received a vision of sending a shipping container full of donations for the poor in the Philippines, as it would be costly to bring them by air. The first of 21 Containers For Jesus to date was shipped that year, with each container carrying not only clothes. The Sohs’ contacts in Perth and Singapore have also donated pre-owned toys, household items, blankets, on- perishable food, devotionals, bibles and rosaries. Today, we appeal to you for donations to fill up half of CFJ 22 apart from schoolbags, with pre-owned towels, blankets and beddings which are still much needed by the poor who can hardly feed themselves let alone pay for these basic necessities. This year, the CFJ campaign will start in September. Items we are seeking are:
Please hold on to them for now due to limited storage space at our premises. We will advise when the Container arrives.

Housing For Jesus
Typhoon Haiyan had a big effect on Buckets For Jesus. Not only did Ruby feel the pain about what had happened in her home country. During two separate major Apostolic Missions to bring aid to Haiyan victims, she witnessed firsthand the situations in these areas.
The sight of homes without roofs and debris all over the streets, especially in Bogo and Tacloban, gave Ruby the vision of a housing appeal for the homeless which is still running at present. Housing For Jesus or HFJ homes aims to build low-cost disaster-proof homes for the homeless, with each home being the size of a two car-garage in Australia. For just $3,000 USD or P120,000, one can help build a roof over the head of a homeless, disaster-affected person or family. Each home is equipped withcpower and sanitation, and is designed to withstand the force of natural disasters such as typhoons and floods. Construction of these homes would not have been possible without the donors, who generously put a portion of their money aside just to help providevproper shelter and sanitation to a homeless family. Homeless families or awardees also contribute their share by “Sweat Equity” and help build their future homes, and in turn help build the next house and all awardees also help maintain the village. |
