God fights our battles for us!

In early April, we had a highly emotional, stressful & traumatic morning at the Magistrate Courts. For more than a year now, we have been seeking justice from our ex-landlord who held back our 3 month office deposit worth 3 Housing for Jesus for our homeless brethren to which we have committed the full mount upon collection.

Meantime, our ex-landlord counter charged & came up with so many allegations against us even exceeding the amount we claimed for, mostly baseless. Thanks be to God, He delivered His promise to fight our battles for us, despite my health challenges, He gave me peace, calm, a clear mind to put things in perspective and the wisdom to recall the chronology of events to face yesterday’s challenges at the pre-trial court.

Being in the design business, The Lord guided us to present our case with photos (before and after) to illustrate to the courts we are in the business of enhancing properties and not destroying them. I believe the method won us the case but most of all, it was by divine intervention that the actual male judge was running late and a female assistant judge came in his stead who appreciated good design. All arguments presented by our opponent after we established his default claims on several occasions and how badly we were treated during the 2 year tenure (like no aircon for our first 3 months, bad plumbing etc) plus retention of our deposit for more than a year without interest, finally worked against them.

We have been praying for our ex-landlord’s conversion since we moved into his premises. Yesterday, we could have walked out of the court without pre-trial as he was sitting very far from the courtroom and when his name was called 3x he didn’t reply. The judge then said you’ve won the case as your defendant is not here but I said I know him and he’s outside, so I called him in. Then the judge told him to thank me for calling him or she would have closed the case against him for not showing up. He then looked at me gratefully. After the pretrial I shook his hands and said God bless you!

Glory to God, with the help of your prayers, the case was decided in our favour! Gratefully walked straight to the Cathedral across the courts for noon day Mass in thanksgiving. Truly we have an amazing God and indeed He does fight our battles for us! Rx♥️

My Pentecost Experience

Dear Friends and loved ones,

I pray you are well and your family had a blessed weekend.

Last weekend, The Lord had been gracious to Mike and me (overcame all the odds) and granted us the gift to attend a 3-day retreat at the Vincentian retreat centre, for “ The Pentecost Experience.” Fr Varghese, the director of the retreat lead us to a powerful 3 days of praise and worship, preached and helped us meditate on the Word of the Holy Spirit and led us into reconciliation and repentance to experience a new Pentecost in our hearts. The gifts of the Holy Spirit fell upon us and we experienced so much joy, spoke in tongues and prayed in the spirit. Then the miracle of spiritual healing followed and sensed my physical restoration has started to take me back into His wholeness once again. God was present, face to face in Adoration and spiritual renewal, the Holy Spirit moved me and empowered me not to be afraid and trust Him alone. “Do not be afraid for I am with you.” Isaiah 41:10

After 9 years of serving the Lord through Buckets for Jesus’ ministry for the poorest of the poor while facing some health challenges, I begun to ask The Lord if these were His signs to hang the towel and let go. However, through the Holy Spirit, He clearly revealed His will and inspired me and Mike all the more to keep going for this is His Will. After 24 BFJ missions, 24 Containers for a Jesus, 30,000 Schoolbags for Jesus, 50,000 Bibles and Rosaries planted into the slums dwellers, the Lord has just begun the work He wants to be accomplished. Many of the retreatants were also inspired to hear of BFJ work for the Lord after Fr Varghese asked me to share about our ministry. Indeed, “Our labour in Christ will not be in vain.” 1 Cor 15:49-58

Thank you dear brother and sisters for praying for me and for journeying by faith in moving mountains for the least among us. Your prayers and support inspires me to keep going and I prayed for all of you at the retreat, for your wellbeing, healing and blessings. Please forgive me if I have been too demanding in the past and seems ungrateful. But God is watching and your reward awaits you in eternity. Your dedication and perseverance gives me strength amidst the storms and I deeply believe with great conviction that together, God will use all of us to do more miracles as His channel of mercy and hope for the least among us.
In Isaiah 6:2-8 The Lord ask, “Whom shall I send.” Pray that our answer will be that same as Isaiah’s “Here I am Lord, Send me!”

In His Amazing Grace,
Ruby

Testimony from recent missionary Ashley Carvalho

Going to the Philippines for two weeks earlier this year allowed me to put my faith into action. Jesus came to serve, not to be served. I saw this in the everyday lives of so many people in the Philippines. Alongside all of the other volunteers, I too was able to serve others through the distribution of school supplies so generously donated by kids and adults in Australia and Singapore.

Throughout my time away I was constantly amazed by the incredible commitment that the Soh family (the founders of Buckets of Jesus) have to the mission, and the hard work that they and their family show in coming back to the Philippines every year to continue the mission. Thanks to them and their work, thousands of children across the world have received not only material goods but a sense of love from people across the world. I will forever remember the pure joy on the children’s faces when they opened their school bags.

Though there were challenging moments, such as being confronted by the crammed and unsanitary living conditions many people live in, I walk away knowing that the impact of the school supplies has only just began.

Going on this mission has reminded me of all the blessings I have received from God, and has inspired me to want to live a simpler life ever more devoted to Jesus.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those people who have helped me and my fellow classmates to be able to volunteer and go on mission to the Philippines with Buckets for Jesus. Thank you to all the people who donate time and money into this missionary group. Every bit that you have done is such a blessing. Being on the ground when the BFJ school supplies were handed out allowed me to see the importance of the work that BFJ is doing. All people should have access to education, which often cant be done without the requisite school supplies. BFJ seeks to provide for those who otherwise wouldn’t be able to access education. So thank you so much for all that you do!

Above all, praise be to God.

From Depression to Doctorate - Joel Grace

I had depression for many years and depend on drugs to face a day until one day I nearly took my life out of desperation as those drugs were no longer effective.

Thankfully Buckets for Jesus invited me to join their mission and my life turned around after that trip. I have since been 3x and will never get tired of going as I realised there was life beyond myself and a world out there full of suffering poor people.

I decided to use my talents to help the neediest and use my time to make a difference in their lives. I received a award for my Masters degree dissertation and today\

I am on my final year of doctorate studies and will be more enabled to make changes in many lives who had been suffering far too long. Thanks to BFJ, you saved my life!

Testimony from recent missionary Joe Phillips

The mission trip over at the Philippines was an experience that I will most definitely never forget.

Though I’ve always been made aware about the tragedies of poverty, seeing it for myself gave me the opportunity to speak about the realities, and relate it to people in my own country. Though I can’t name a highlight on this trip, the sheer joy received by the locals was quite incredible, even through the struggle, it brings out great purpose. In fact, it was the Spirit of the Philippines that made me consider moving over there. I wasn’t too confronted when I arrived, because I had entered it with that mind frame, it was only when I was on the train back in Perth, when I was confronted
with the huge difference in lifestyles and mannerisms.

The incredible work BFJ puts into this ministry is quite incredible, the lead up from the trip, when we were packing the school bags was a good build up, and gave meaning for when we gave out the bags to the children. My advice for future missionaries is simply, to expect heaps from this trip, but at the same time, don’t expect too much either.

I cannot thank Buckets for Jesus enough for the huge opportunity to be able to broaden my
horizons, and I hope that I have a place on the team in future trips.

Healing Miracle by Inez Lopez

I was one of the ladies who received a free Tagalog Bible when BFJ visited us in 2009 at DOJ Mla. Answered prayers as 6 months before that, we were praying for Bibles so we can have Bible Studies at our village in the slums. Our leader was crying like us when our of the blue, Buckets for Jesus or BFJ team showed up at our village with Fr Brian and started giving out Bibles and Rosaries and gave the kids food to eat and clothes.
My happiness was however shortlived as my dear friend who was dying of cancer borrowed my bibles and I had no heart to say no to his request. To my delight, BFJ came back again the following year and gave me another Bibles. But the miracle was this: I learned of my dying friend who was healed just by reading the Bible I loaned him. He claimed the healing promised of the Word of God each day and the Lord healed him for his faith though as small as a mustard seed! From now on, we cling to the Word for every healing we need, believe and we received...always!

BFJ Missions got me out of Depression

I used to wish I were dead and everyday was a struggle to keep going until I joined Buckets for Jesus missions 5 years ago which changed my life completely. The mission opened my eyes to the sufferings of people living in 3rd world countries which were just beyond my comprehension and realised what a fool I was to feel depressed when I have everything and very blessed to be born in a 1st world country.
Today I look back and grateful for that depressive bout which led me to the Philippines. I stayed back and decided to study again and work at the same time. I also met the love of my life and I now have a sense of mission to keep helping BFJ and the neediest people, if I can help just one person, I would have made a difference in this life already!
